The community of Robson was named in 1890, in Honor of BC's Premier John Robson, and this was seventeen years before 1907 when Castlegar would have its first house built. Robson was the hub of activity, before the CPR build a bridge to, and Rail Station in, Castlegar. In Robson there was a Black Smith Shop, Riverboat Loading Dock, a Railroad Station House. We had the first Store, Church, School, Lumber Mill, and a Mill Town, complete with Boarding Houses, three Restaurants, a Meat Market, Drug Store, and a hotel called “Kootenay House”. Most of this before the year 1900.
Through the years there has been much history recorded in photographs by the very people that have lived in Robson. Robson Museum would like to digitize and display that photo history. Robson Museum is an online museum with a mandate to display all historical photos, which include any and all that would be deemed appropriate.
